Supporting sustainable farming in Wales is a central goal of current agricultural policy. The Sustainable Farming Scheme (SFS), which launched at the beginning of 2026, aims to support farmers with managing their farms in order to produce food sustainably, while enhancing and protecting the natural environment, including soils, water quality, and habitats.
As part of the SFS, farmers must ensure that at least 10% of their land is managed as habitat, through maintaining existing habitats or creating new ones. To support this, Senus offers bespoke habitat mapping services that help farmers assess existing semi-natural habitats and plan for temporary or permanent habitat creation. These tools enable farmers to make informed decisions, support compliance with SFS requirements, and maintain accurate records for inspection purposes.
Our maps help farmers identify opportunities for habitat creation, plan management actions, and support biodiversity, soil health, and land productivity.
