Job Title: Part-Time Driver (Soil Sample Collections & Deliveries) (Temporary)
Contract: Temporary, 2 days per week (November 2025 – January/February 2026)
Days: 2 days per week, between Tuesday and Thursday (e.g. Tues + Wed, Tues + Thurs, or Wed + Thurs)
Location: Nationwide collections with deliveries to Carlow and Waterford. Van based in Athlone.
Reports to: Sampling Manager
Day-to-Day Tasks
- Collect boxes of soil samples from samplers, mainly in the north west and midlands (Longford, Westmeath, Meath, Cavan, Monaghan), and other areas nationally as required.
- Log on to the Logistics Dashboard and liaise with samplers to arrange collection of samples taken.
- Ensure all boxes are correctly labelled at collection, following the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
- Safely load and unload sample boxes.
- Deliver sample boxes to laboratories in Carlow and Waterford, collecting any samples in the area en route.
- Plan and carry out the most efficient collection and delivery routes; adapt schedules as needed.
- Communicate promptly with the Sampling Manager regarding any issues or delays.
- Liaise and organise couriers when samples need to be delivered by courier.
Record Keeping and Supplies
- Accurately complete all required records (collection logs, labelling checks, delivery confirmations).
- Maintain sampling supplies in the van (bags, labels, etc.) and provide to samplers when requested.
Van Upkeep & Compliance
- Conduct vehicle inspections and report any issues or incidents promptly.
- Comply with traffic laws, safety regulations, and the Driving for Work Policy.
- Refuel and clean the van regularly.
Requirements
- Full, clean driving licence (category B).
- Previous driving or delivery experience is desirable.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to follow SOPs and attention to detail in labelling checks.
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling.
- Basic IT skills.
Other Details
- Van and work phone will be provided for the 2 days. Van location: Athlone
- Full training will be provided

Pay: from €130 gross per day (depending on experience & performance)
